• Regular oil massage (Shiro abhyangam): Oiling is the most important ritual in traditional hair care as it brings essential nutrients through increased circulation. It exfoliates the hair follicles and soothes your scalp.
Coconut oil mixed with dried alma pieces and preserved can be used for the purpose.

• Use of Natural Shampoos: Shampoos made of natural ingredient such as rettha, shikakai, amla, hibiscus flowers, fenugreek seeds, lemon and orange peels, henna etc. can be used to wash curly hairs to make it more smooth and lustrous.
Reetha and Shikakai contain natural surfactants called Saponins, which is a natural cleaning agent. Also the anti-microbial and anti-oxidant propertie of reetha, shikakai and amla helps to maintain healthy scalp.
• Use of Alovera: Aloe vera smoothens hair cuticle and moisturizes the hair.
Aloevera (4tsp) with coconut oil (3 tsp) and plain yogurt are made into paste and applied on scalp for 30 min and then rinsed off with lukewarm water.

• Avoid paddle brushes as well as any stiff bristles. Wide-toothed comb is always a good option to comb curly hair.
• Wash hair with cold water as it helps make hair shinier, locks in moisture and reduces frizz.
• Use less heat.
• Untangle your hair while you are still in the shower with the conditioner on.
