Is it safe to take Triphala after its expiration date?

Hello,

I just bought a can of Triphala powder from India. It took a whole month to arrive and now I came to see the expiration date on the can is 22/09/2016 which is almost a year ago.

I am just about to start a dispute with the seller to get a reimbursement however I don't want to order a new can and wait another month to get it.

Can someone advise me on what would be best to do?
