DIABETES

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder in which the production of insulin hormone in pancreas is insufficient or faulty. There can be resistance to available insulin. Body is unable to make proper use of glucose at cellular level, resulting in Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) and glycosuria (sugar in urine).Poorly managed diabetic can lead to host of long term complications are:-

Heart attacks
Strokes
Blindness
Nerve damage
Recurrent infections Amputation of limb
UTI, Impotence in men

According to Ayurveda, there are 20 forms of Diabetes.

4 types- Vata (urine)
6 types- pitta (Bile)
10 types- Kapha (phlegm)
But Prameha (Diabetes) is mainly kapha doshas diseases.

Causes of Diabetes

Diet increasing ,such as sugar, fat, potatoes & rice
Hereditary
Lack of exercise , Sedentary lifestyle
Mental stress & strain
Excessive sleep ,poor physical activity

Sign & Symptoms

Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Increased hunger
Weight loss
Tiredness /Lethargy
Lack of interest & concentration
Tingling sensation or numbness in hands or feet
Blurred vision
Slow healing wound

Blood glucose level-Fasting & PP after meals
Oral glucose tolerance test

Cinnamon powder, Fenugreek (Indian methi)
Dry seed powder of jamun fruits have to be used in a dose of 1 tsp twice or thrice with luke warm water
Gudmar patra churna ( Gymnema syalvestra) Dry leaves of this plant, used one tsp daily with Luke warm water.

Daruhridra (Berberis aristata)
Amlaki (Emblica officianalis)
Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)

Precautions

Dos

Fast food, spicy food & fatty foods is to be avoided
Avoid sugar , soft drink & Packed food item
