However, with a few lifestyle changesand modifications in diet, diabetes can be managed effectively. Diabetes affects the body’s ability to use insulin in an efficient way or produce insulin. Although, there are ample options available to treat diabetes but the best & healthy approach is Ayurvedic treatment for diabetes. To gain more benefits from home remedies, here are a few home remedies.
    Karela or Bitter Gourd
    Bitter Gourd or Karela is a great way to keep the blood sugar at bay. Include bitter gourd in your dishes, soups, juices and notice the difference.
    Wholesome Diet
    A wholesome diet which includes vegetables, fruits, and a rich array of antioxidants such as vitamin C is advised to the people who suffer from diabetes type 2. It is also some of the few home remedies for diabetes.Antioxidants prevent the damage of artery walls. If not prevented, it can lead to heart disease.
    One of the best home remedies for high diabetes is exercise. Exercise holds the potential of controlling diabetes through nonmedical means. The required energy for exercise can also help in losing weight, which will also reduce the risk of obesity and other related complications. Because exercise is known to increase insulin sensitivity it will also tackle the root cause of diabetes especially type 2.     Natural Food
    Natural food is the best way to treat all types of diseases because natural food is not diluted with chemicals. Foods like fruits, juices, nuts, sprouts, etc. can be consumed raw to gain maximum benefits. Consuming a fiber packed diet can help the body to absorb sugar in a slow way which keeps your sugar level on the track. Soluble fiber does a wonderful job in stabilizing the sugar levels. Fruits such as apricots, parsnips, beets, berries, citrus foods, carrots, winter squash, apples, etc. are high in soluble fiber. It also helps in elevating LDL cholesterol levels (a serious problem, faced by those who suffer from diabetes).
    Meditation can be considered as diabetes Ayurveda as it helps in lowering the insulin resistance in the body. Stress hormones such as adrenaline & noradrenalineas well as cortisol strengthen the insulin production and glucose levels. Meditation balances glucose and insulin in the blood which normalizes metabolic syndrome and diabetes type 2.
    Bilberry Leaves and Cinnamon
    The leaves of bilberry plant are known to lower blood sugar levels in an efficient manner. Include 1gram cinnamon in the diet for at least a month, it will also help in reducing the blood sugar levels.
    Basil Leaves
    Basil leaves are easily available and have the power to lower down blood sugar levels. Basil leaves or Tulsi is a rich source of antioxidants that relieve stress; it's this oxidative stress that compounds problems in diabetic patients.

    In today's stressful modern living, incidence of Diabetes is increasing. Every now and then we come across patients of Diabetes seeking Ayurvedic treatment and advice.
    Diabetes is a lifestyle disorder and can be hereditary. Diabetes is not completely curable but can be kept under control. It is important to develop a healthy acceptance of the lifestyle changes that your condition requires. It also helps to develop confidence in your ability to live within these health constraints.
    The 1st line of treatment of diabetes is to stop the cause of disease like sedentary lifestyle, over nutrition, excessive stress etc. So Ayurveda recommends correcting this cause by following tips:
    • Diet planning- is the cornerstone of managing diabetes. The diabetic diet is an otherwise normal balanced diet, with a few modifications and proper spacing between food intakes. Your diet should be well balanced to achieve a good level of health and maintain a healthy weight
    • Exercise regularly as physical activity lowers your blood glucose level
    • Avoid diet increasing kapha dosha such as sugar, fats, potatoes, rice
    • Quit smoking, limit alcohol
    • Restrict and reduce weight
    • Avoid sleeping during daytime
    • Try to reduce stress by implementing 'Yoga' practice
    Secondly Ayurveda recommends herbs like Vijaysaar (Pterocarpus marsupium) an insulin sensitiser; Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) is an antioxidant; Karela (Momordica charantia); Neem (Melia azadirachta) and Gudmar (Gymnema sylvestre) are potent anti-diabetic ingredients. In market there are many effective herbal medicines available for diabetes. One such effective ayurvedic anti-diabetic product is ""Hyponidd"". Hyponidd has beneficial effect not only in maintaining blood sugar levels but also in lowering lipids. It also minimize the progression of diabetic complications if started sufficiently early.

      Type I Diabetes

      It is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. In type I diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. It is also known as Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM). Type I diabetes is an auto immune disease.
      Type II Diabetes

      Type II diabetes is type II formed diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Most of them are having over weight. In this, either the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells rejects the insulin. It is also known as Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellites (NIDDM). Children and teenagers can also develop Type II diabetes. Unlike Type I, Type II Diabetes is not an auto immune disease.
