  • fluid in baby's ears + how to help baby gain weight

My baby has fluid in her ears (diagnosed by an MD). What can I do to help the fluid go away faster and to relieve her discomfort?

Also, she is not gaining enough weight, and I don't want to put her on formula. She breastfeeds and eats homemade solid food. What dies Ayurveda suggest to help her gain weight? Thank you!

      Hi Caring Mamma,
There are some effective Ayurvedic powders which on external application can help with fluid in ears, consult an Ayurvedic doctor if you can. Breast feeding while lying on bed and bathing are two main factors for fluid in ear for babies. Breast feed only while you are sitting and be careful to avoid entry of water in ears while bathing.
If your baby is eating and sleeping adequately still not gaining weight, something may be wrong with absorption. Use of spices like asafoetida (hing), cumin, turmeric and a pinch of black pepper (in the porridge and vegetables of baby) can help. Regular massage with sesame oil/coconut oil/herbal oil (when the bay is free from diseases and discomforts) can help t improve sleeping, digestion and health.
Hope these will give you some idea!
