Wilson disease is a genetic disorder according to modern science. A small amount of copper is needed to stay healthy which is obtained from food, but too much copper is poisonous. In Wilson disease, copper builds up in the liver, brain, eyes, and other organs. Over time, high copper levels can cause life-threatening organ damage. ATP7B gene prevents the body getting rid of extra copper. Normally, copper from the diet is filtered out by the liver and released into bile, which flows out of the body through the gastrointestinal tract. People who have Wilson disease cannot release copper from the liver at a normal rate, due to a mutation of the ATP7B gene. When the copper storage capacity of the liver is exceeded, copper is released into the bloodstream and travels to other organs—including the brain, kidneys, and eyes. The organ is affected where it stay and build up.

Sign and symptoms:
- A build up of copper in liver results ongoing liver disease as swelling of liver and spleen, jaundice, yellowing skin and eyes, fatigue, edema, ascites, etc.
- A buildup of copper in the central nervous system may result in neurological symptoms such as tremors, uncontrolled movements, sluggish speech, problem with swallowing and physical coordination’s, muscle stiffness, behavioral changes, etc.
- Other symptoms: anemia, low platelets and white cell counts, slower blood clotting, high levels of amino acid, proteins, uric acid , carbohydrates in urine, Primarily osteoporosis and arthritis. Kayser-Fleischer rings result from a buildup of copper in the eyes and are the most unique sign of Wilson disease. They appear in each eye as a rusty-brown ring around the edge of the iris and in the rim of the cornea.

Note: Wilson disease can be misdiagnosed because it is rare and its symptoms are similar to those of other conditions.

According to ayurveda these all sign of Wilson disease is the signs of increasing vat pitta dosha. Hence, it is very easy to control and cure the Wilson disease. Garlic and ghrut are best drugs and panchakarma treatment to cure it.
A 20 year old boy, Mayur Chopada, got rid of Wilson disease by ayurveda. Let us go through the case by his father’s own words.

“ I am a middle class man and have a shop at District Dhule, Maharastra. My son Mayur had fever and convulsions in June, 1995. We consulted the local physician but his status worsened day by day. So he was referred to Mumbai. In August, 1995, he was diagnosed to be suffering from Wilson Disease.

He was feeling good to some extent with Indian medicines to control Copper to accumulate. All of a sudden he had tremors and could not speak easily in Jan, 1997. So the doctor prescribed foreign made medicines which costs Rs. 270/- per day. I had to purchase those medicines to save my son, though I went through money crisis. And to our ill fate, those medicines were to be used lifelong.

Hence I was in search of for an alternative. We wondered here and there. Even tried Homeopathy, Ayurvedic, Unani etc. but all to no effect. Then we came across Vaidyaraj Amrutbhai Prajapati. He suggested to undergo the therapy of Panchakarma and prescribede some ayurvedic medicines. Then the foreign medicines were stopped one by one as he started feeling good within two months. After a year, we continued Lasunadi Ghrut only which costs Rs. 1500/- a month and this was a manageable amount for me. Now my son Mayur is well and good.

Jay Dhanvantary.

Thank you,
With regards,

Vaidyaraj Amrutbhai Prajapati
