You can be easily irritated by pollens in spring, cold in winter, and dust in summer and the list goes on. Unfortunately, you start feeling utterly helpless before any real help reaches you. Many of us give up while searching for a successful solution and become an addict to non-treating medicines and spend almost one-fourth of their income on various sources during their lifetime.

Thankfully, there is still a hope named Ayurveda, offers a unique perspective and a number of effective remedies with added treatments for winters and beyond. Ayurvedic approach to allergies provides open insights that will help to find some much-deserved allergy relief.

You might be familiar with the allergen aggravating dosha: Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. Therefore allergies are classified depending on which one is triggered in each individual case. More than one can be involved. We mainly develop allergies that are related to our constitution such as a Pitta-predominant individual is more likely to develop a Pitta type of allergy and a Kapha- predominant person will develop a Kapha type of allergy. However, it is also possible to develop allergies that are not related to our constitution. Whatever the case, let’s start by identifying the treatments in the Ayurvedic tradition.

While identifying the type of allergy you must understand that there are a number of treatment strategies contradicting the fact of your dosha-predominance. These treatments can complement any dosha-specific because they are universal.

Avoid the Allergen

You need to identify the allergen on the first place. Then avoiding the particular element can give your body an important rest from the over-active immune response. For example, if you are allergic to pollens do your best to stay out of its way for a while. Also, avoid contact with furry animals like dogs and cats and try to dress in cotton clothing.

Prioritize Proper Food Combining

Digestive system and immune function are intricately linked. Proper and balanced diet can provide essential support to improve digestive health, which in turn, can set the immune health in order.

Follow a Dosha-Pacifying Diet

This will vary from person to person. As discussed above dosha are most prominently at play in your trouble. Check out the types of symptoms and work accordingly. Kapha types of symptoms should follow a Kapha-pacifying diet. If Pitta is the player, follow a pitta-pacifying diet and in Vata types of allergies, you should follow a vata-pacifying diet.

Cleanse or Lubricate the Nostrils

Caring a little for the nostrils can help to mitigate the effect of allergens because nostrils work as the main host to the allergens to enter the body. The cleansing respiratory system supports clear breathing and a clear mind.  Nasya and Neti Pot are the main therapies introduced to oppose allergies. Nasya is a practice of applying an herbal oil or cow ghee to the nasal passage to nourish delicate tissues and promote clean breathing while providing a barrier against potentially disturbing allergens. But keep in mind it should not be performed by pregnant or menstruating women. Nasal Rinse or Neti Pot is described as pouring warm salt water through the nasal passages. It moistens the tissues and cleanses dust, dirt, pollen, other allergens, and excess mucus. If these practices are new to you please consult an expert.

Gargling

Throat allergy treatment in Ayurveda is simple to learn and follow. Gargling is recommended with a bit of honey in hot water or Turmeric powder or salt in hot water. Both are clarifying and soothing.

Ayurveda is able to heal each individual by any means and this is inspirable. It offers many effective herbs and formulas to do the good. Sitopaladi, Talisadi, Trikatu, Ashwagandha, Bibhitaki,  Haritaki, Chyavanprash,   Cumin, Coriander, and Fennel can be chosen according to the requirement.
